Andrew celebrated his 9th birthday in Duchesne this year. We haven't been to the Duchesne County Fair in years and really didn't want to miss it this year, so we drove clear out to Duchesne twice in one month. Andrew loved celebrating with all of our family. He wanted a minecraft cake this year. We looked at pictures and he got really excited about this one, so I made it. Truthfully I had no clue what it even was, but he was happy. We also made three different kinds of homemade ice cream... peach, oreo, and salted caramel hot chocolate.
I love that he still gets so excited about his birthday gifts. He got spoiled by all of our family this year. Ben and I bought him a bow and arrow, he loved that!
The morning of his birthday, Andrew and Olivia did a kid's triathlon. It was pouring rain and pretty cold, but they were such great sports. I was so proud of them. Andrew took second in his age group and Olivia took third. They got medals for their efforts and Olivia stared at hers all day and said things like, "This is my first medal. Do you think it's real gold??"
After horse riding, we went down for the parade. It was the biggest parade I've seen in Duchesne! The kids got loaded with candy and frisbies and all sorts of junk.
We spent the rest of the night following the kids around from ride to ride at the carnival. I have not been that tired from just walking and standing in a long time. We watched some of the rodeo and ate yummy fair food as well.
On Sunday, we drove out to Pleasant Grove for my cousin's homecoming. My entire family was there, so we took some family photos. Everyone whined and cried over it, but we got some good shots despite that. Jen and I took some maternity photos together too, since we are due the same day!
