I almost gave up on using yeast ever again on this baking challenge. In the past month or two, I have made several loaves of bread that have all turned out terribly. I tried to make ciabatta bread again and it was nasty, I tried to make wheat bread and it never rose, I tried to make white bread and they were flattened. Well with this recipe, I made it just like it said and they weren't rising. I was getting ready to throw the bowl out the window when I called my mother-in-law and got some tips on making them rise by putting them in the oven... several hours later... it worked. They rose... although I think I need to try them again to make them get puffier. So this is what I learned to do this month. Cinnamon Sticky Buns The reason I think mine didn't turn out quite as good is... 1) I was afraid they wouldn't work and it would be a waste so I didn't put very many expensive pecans on them... it would have been great smothered with pecans like their picture showed... 2) If you make this, use warm milk (it doesn't specify) because they will raise better. 3) I would make probably double the topping because I like mine extra fattening. :) Even with all the hang-ups, they were delicious! Oh so sticky and gooey. Yum!

Surprise! Another member of the family!
Hahaha I was hoping the title of the blog would freak everyone into thinking I was announcing another pregnancy. Did it work?
Well this addition to our family was a lot less painful. Meet NEMO! (Andrew picked it out) After helping my cousin by letting her evaluate my parenting skills and then write a ten page paper on Andrew, I learned a few things... One of these things is that it is good for kids to have pets. Since we recently sold our snake Marley to Ben's sister, Andrew no longer had a pet and I therefore got bad marks on that part of the evaluation :( So I decided that just would not be okay and we got him a fish! He loves it so much. He feeds it and asks to play with it... (we don't cave on that request don't worry!) I think he is a perfect little addition to our family. All we need to do now is spice up his trifle... oops I mean fish bowl. I thought the blue paper background was a nice touch.

Bouncer
We got the bouncer out for Olivia finally... so far its a love/hate relationship. Haha. No just kidding, she loves it but she was getting aggravated with me in that picture.
And as you can see, Andrew is a fan too.

Like mother, like daughter.
We like to joke around that Olivia is a true yogi. I have been getting into yoga off and on for a few years and I think she has been watching me because she has a perfect downward facing dog and Chaturanga... which I can't even do... :) She does this all day long and bends backwards so her feet almost touch her head! Crazy girl.

Night Terrors?
Andrew hasn't been sleeping so well the past few months. At first I thought it was just that he really needed a nap but the past week or two, he stopped sleeping through the night again... even though he gets a nap. When I explained this to a few people, they mentioned night terrors. Well I had no clue what that was and figured Andrew was probably too young to get something like that and so I brushed it off. But after doing a little research, I am beginning to wonder if he might be having these night terrors. He wakes up, usually around the same time each night, and screams his head off. No amount of comforting will help, in fact it usually makes it worse. He screams and screams and throws himself on the floor and I can't get him to orchestrate a real sentence to save my life. After about ten minutes of me just sitting there holding him and letting him go crazy, he mentions that he needs to go to the bathroom or wants a drink or last night he said he wanted to say a prayer. I feel like I am going to go insane. When I researched it, they said it might have to do with sleep deprivation but how can that be when he gets a nap? They also mentioned becoming aware of the need to go to the bathroom but it takes me ten minutes of screaming before he will finally let me take him. I don't know what I am going to do but if anyone has some advice on this subject, let me know. Maybe I will be calling the doctor this week. Another question... what am I supposed to do with Olivia? We are trying to get her to sleep through the night too but they just keep waking each other up!

God has a sense of humor...
You know that to be true when SPRING break in Logan looks like this...I am SO sick of this weather! Ughh. Our backyard had no snow when we left, now look at it! Duchesne really did look like a tropical oasis compared to this.
In happier news though, Olivia crawled for the first time today! She is getting SO big!
And in even happier news, Ben's brother got called to the St. Louis Missouri Mission! He is leaving June 10. We are so excited for him! Ironically enough, he will be only an hour and a half away from my dad's family in Illinois. I didn't take my camera so an old picture of his huge hair will have to do. We are also happy to report that he now has short hair and it looks wonderful. Hahaha. We love you Sean!

We're off!
We are headed to the warm and exciting tropics of Duchesne Utah for Spring Break this weekend. Haha. I am a little sad we don't get to go to Jamaica or something but that's life so oh well. I am just so happy this week is over! These were some of the ups and downs of this week...
*Ben had two tests and a presentation and basically I have been going crazy with the kids all week long by myself.
*Olivia had a doctor appointment yesterday and got some shots. She had a little fever and was very grumpy pretty much the rest of the night. All is well now though and I need to find a way to get her to eat her solids... poor girl just gags on everything I give her.
*Andrew didn't take a nap so therefore he was up 3 times last night screaming but he's napping now so tonight should be better! We had very few accidents this week and he even wakes up in the night to go to the bathroom. Today he tried to go potty all by himself, he did pretty well and even got up on the toilet just fine... only problem... he forgot to pull his underwear down first. Hmm.
*Ben and I made a budget and went through our budget for February. We are trying a new system of using cash in envelopes... we will see how that goes.
*I finished my apron in my sewing class (I will post pics because I was way excited). My next project is a dress for Olivia.
*Ben's brother got his mission call this week and we are going down to Provo tonight to open it together over dinner. Yippee! I am so excited for him.
*I started two new books... The Power of Positive Parenting and The Love Dare, so far so good.
*My grandma had her last chemo treatment!
*We ate all our perishable items in the fridge so we won't come home to rotten food.
Well the next time you hear from me I will probably have a sunburn from all the hot sun in good old Duchesne but I will try to grin bear it! Haha. Ciao!

Sad news
So I have been following this woman's blog whom I don't even know for the past month or so. (Don't ask how I find some people's blogs.) Her daughter was at Primary Children's and got a heart transplant and it didn't work out. She died the other day and I am so heartbroken for this family. She was such a beautiful baby. I pray that I will never have to go through a trial like that, but it just reminds me how precious life is. I am so grateful for eternal families and that even when terrible things like that happen we can all see each other again someday. Now I am going to get off this computer and go play with my Livy doll while Andrew is sleeping.

February Baking
I am still moving forward with my resolution to learn to bake one new thing a month and for February it was Creme Brulee. Ben and I go to the restaurant Hamilton's every six months or so for special occasions and we always get Creme Brulee. It is divine! Well I was sick of waiting six months for it and decided I need to learn to do it myself. So Ben and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and found a torch and ramekins for only 20$ and we made our first batch on the last day of February... so it still counts!
My favorite part! The torch!
Ben kept trying to get me to look at the camera... ugh hello! Distracted woman with a lit torch... not a good idea. Don't look too close in this pic, you will see my sticky note that yells "USE PAPER TOWEL!" Haha. Long story.
Pure heaven! I just want to jump through the screen and eat this right now.
Ben and I always joke that we want to lick the plate and ramekin at Hamilton's but the restaurant is much too fancy for that. Not at home though!
A sign you have some really good Creme Brulee! Delish!
