February 2016

There aren't a ton of activities in February, so I try to condense it all into one post. Ruby is getting bigger and bigger each day. She loves to suck on her hands and her toes. She's really good at holding her head up during tummy time now.

I love baby feet.

Ruby's BFF Paige came to visit and we snapped some cute pics of the two of them holding hands.

It warmed up at the end of February and the snow melted enough for us to even have a picnic in the backyard!

The kids had a great Valentine's Day. We made all their valentines this year. It was so much fun. Olivia made a unicorn card holder and Andrew and I made a monster the morning of the party. Millie brought me home snacks from the party. It was sweet. I made my traditional fruit pizza for Ben.

The Blue and Gold banquet was this year and the boys decorated cakes with their dads. Ben had to work, so Andrew and I went crazy. We made a chocolate cake with graham cracker filling, dulce de leche, covered in homemade marshmallow cream and torched with candy fire. It was awesome!

Olivia has been selling Girl Scout cookies like crazy. This is what 1,200$ in cookies looks like. We were so happy that was over with!

Ben's Birthday

It's Ben's last year in his 20's! Ahh, we're getting old! We had a big party planned with his brothers and friend, but a snowstorm got in the way and it ended up just being us and JD and Katie. Earlier in the day we had lunch at a yummy Indian food restaurant in Layton and went up Cottonwood Canyon to go sledding. It was tons of fun and beautiful.

In other news, isn't Ruby adorable?? Love her.

Millie's Birthday

Millie turned FIVE years old this year! We had a great time on her birthday. We went to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium with Ben's parents and came back for a Frozen themed lunch and dessert. We had Olaf's noses(baby carrots), Christoff's ice chunks(jello), Hans' frozen hearts(white chocolate dipped strawberries), Sven's swedish meatballs, and a beautiful Elsa's castle cake. Millie loved it all.

Ruby's Blessing

Ruby was blessed by her daddy on January 9th in Kaysville. We decided to do it on a Saturday this time so our family didn't have to travel Sunday. It actually turned out to be really nice. I think I'll keep with that tradition if I ever have to do it again. We sang a hymn, did the blessing, Ben and I bore our testimonies, and we had lunch and visiting with our family. It turned out great. Ruby wore the same outfit me and all my girls were blessed in with a pink ribbon, her birth color. My mom bought her some shiny ruby slippers too. She looked beautiful.

"Our Father in Heaven, by the authority of the mel priesthood, which we hold, we bring this infant before Thee to give her a name and a blessing. The name which she shall be known throughout her life and upon the records of the church shall be Ruby Eloise Marett. Ruby we bless you at this time that as you go throughout your life you will have the strength of the Holy Ghost to be your guide and your companion as you live worthily. We bless you that you will look to your family for examples, especially those of your family who you are named after, that you will learn from their strength and their work ethic. Ruby, we bless you that you will feel the love of your family and the love of your Heavenly Father, that you will be able to create strong family ties and draw strength from that throughout your life. We bless you that you will have wisdom to follow the gospel and seek after the things that are most important in life.We bless you also that you will be happy and do all those things that your Heavenly Father would have you do. These blessings we give you and any others that you may seek and that your Father in Heaven would bestow upon you, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
